The power plants are located near Aswan in Upper Egypt.

Scatec Solar, Norfund and Africa 50.

Project Description
The project forms part of the 1.8 GW Benban solar project – one of the world’s biggest solar parks, comprising 30 plants.

The project comprises six solar plants with a total capacity of 390 MW.

The project is the world’s largest solar plant to use bifacial solar modules, capturing the sun from both sides of the panel to increase the clean energy generation.

The estimated 870 GWh/y of electricity produced from the plants will avoid about 350 000 t/y of carbon dioxide emissions and provide energy for more than 420 000 households.
