Project Description
The project involves the upgrade of the Beira terminal – an import and storage facility at the Port of Beira.

It includes the cleaning and safe dismantling of redundant piping and two unusable tanks, the revamping of three tanks and administration offices, as well as the installation of new tanks, road tanker loading facilities, import and export piping, a firefighting system and a security system.

The first phase of the project aims to ready the facility for import and the supply of petrol and diesel in Mozambique (20% of the volume requirement) and Zimbabwe (80%). This will be done through the existing pipeline to Masasa depot in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The second phase will involve increasing tank- and road-loading capacity and constructing of a new rail-loading facility to cater for Engen’s Southern African subsidiaries.

The project comprises civil, mechanical, tankage and electrical works.

According to special projects manager Jan Sithole, work on the civil, mechanical and tankage works are progressing on schedule, with electrical works expected to start soon.
