Basil Read, the JSE-listed construction and engineering group today announced that it will not renew its sponsorship of the Ford Rally team for the 2014 year due to a realignment of the Group’s marketing and promotions objectives.

Basil Read has been a sponsor of various Ford Rally teams since 2011. The past two years saw rally driver Jan Habig represent the team in the Basil Read branded Ford Fiesta S2000. Marius Heyns, CEO of Basil Read commented:”We have been a proud sponsor of the Ford Rally team for the past three years and have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship. It has been a unique experience for Basil Read and we had the opportunity to raise the awareness of the brand in diversified markets.”

“Our partnership has been very professional and Basil Read was fully committed and supportive in every aspect of its sponsorship. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to debut the Ford S2000 and compete in the blue and white Basil Read colours during the 2012 and 2013 SA Rally Championship seasons,” said Jan Habig. “We would like to personally thank Jan Habig for his long-term association with Basil Read and wish him and his team all the best for the future,” concluded Heyns.
