Construction, mining, development and engineering group Basil Read on Monday announced the appointment of two senior executives at subsidiary level with immediate effect.

The company had appointed former diamond miner De Beers principal process engineer and head of loss prevention Khathutshelo Mapasa executive director for mining and former Department of Public Works infrastructure programme and professional services manager Mfezeko Gwazube a special projects director.

“I am delighted to welcome Khathutshelo and Mfezeko to the group. The wealth of experience that they bring will provide tremendous value to taking the respective businesses forward,” Basil Read outgoing CEO Marius Heyns commented.

Mapasa, who was also currently a nonexecutive director for JSE-listed Argent Industrial and ferrosilicon producer DMS Powders, worked for De Beers for 15 years in domestic and international markets, while Gwazube had previously held various roles within South Africa’s private and public sectors.
