Financial institution First National Bank (FNB) has appointed two senior managers to oversee the growth taking place in its mCommerce sector.

FNB Smart Solutions CEO Liné Wiid says that the company is proud to be doubling its management capacity five years after launching cellphone banking. It has appointed Yolande van Wyk CEO of Smart Services and Ravesh Ramlakan CEO of Cellphone Banking Services from February. Both worked in the FNB mCommerce business unit prior to their current appointments.

Van Wyk was head of the unit’s mCommerce expansion in FNB Smart Solutions and her responsibilities included the management and implementation of solutions, such as cellphone banking, prepaid products and SMS notifications. She will now be responsible for all eMoney initiatives, FNB Cell Pay Point, which is FNB’s online mobile payment gateway, as well as Send Money, a new product that allows customers to send money to anyone with a South African cellphone.

Ramlakan, previously head of transact solutions and chief commercial officer responsible for the business areas in mCommerce, will be responsible for cellphone banking, transact and messaging for South Africa and the bank’s African subsidiaries.

Wiid adds that the new management’s key challenge is to maintain FNB’s high service levels, while achieving steady growth.
