General Motors South Africa (GMSA) announced on Thursday that it will launch the new Trailblazer in South Africa before the end of the year.
The Trailblazer will be a new entry for GMSA in the large sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment, said sales and marketing VP Malcolm Gauld.
“This great product will further strengthen our Chevrolet product portfolio offering, which has rapidly expanded over the past two years. The response from customers has been very favourable, with our Chevrolet sales volumes growing by over 50% in 2011 versus 2010.”
Recent Chevrolet products launched include the third generation Chevrolet Utility, the Sonic Hatchback (including a diesel model), the Sonic Sedan and Captiva diesel model.
“Since its launch in July last year, the Chevrolet Orlando has already gained a 24% share of the multipurpose vehicle segment,” noted Gauld.
The seven-seater Trailblazer made its global debut last year at the opening of the Dubai International Motor Show, in the Middle East.
Gauld said the Trailblazer model line-up and pricing would be announced closer to the launch.
