Major infrastructural development in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, has enticed Atlas Copco to appoint Parts Sales Botswana as a distributor of its road construction and construction tools equipment in that country.
Infrastructure upgrades in Botswana include an extensive road network upgrade, the construction of two dams, the extension of the power station, hospitals and stadiums, and the upgrade of Sir Seretse Khama Air- port.
“For many years, Botswana’s diamond mining activities have made a major contribution towards the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), but this is changing and construction activities are making a significant impact on GDP figures,” says Parts Sales Botswana MD Mike Denbury.
Atlas Copco’s road construction equipment division in Southern Africa business line manager Bill Jenkins adds that the booming construction industry in Botswana has for many years remained a largely untapped market for the company, but it seeks to change this with its new partnership with Parts Sales.
Parts Sales Botswana will market and provide aftermarket support for Atlas Copco subsidiary Dynapac products. It will also market Atlas Copco’s hydraulic, pneumatic and petrol-powered construction equipment.
