Ashegoda wind farm project, Ethiopia.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 120 MW wind power plant, at Ashegoda, near Mek’ele, some 650 km north of Addis Ababa. The facility will be equipped with 120 wind turbines to generate a yearly output of 400 GWh.

The first phase will see the installation of 30 turbines, followed by 45 turbines in the second and third phases respectively.

Duration
The plant is planned to be operational by 2013. Completion of the first phase is expected in early 2011, with the second scheduled for the end of the year.

The last 45 turbines are planned to be installed in 2013.
