Armscor, the State procurement agency has on Friday 20 January 2017, donated learning resources to Adelaide Tambo School in Soweto. Amongst items donated were the interactive board (smart board), laptop, projector, digital multimeter, laboratory coats, school back-packs and some human models. As a technology-driven organisation which drives innovation through its Research and Development business unit to develop cutting-edge products and services, Armscor acknowledges the shortage of technical skills in the country.

Through its Corporate Social Investment flagship programme (Learner Enhancement programme), the organisation continues to invest in educational programmes which focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in an endeavor to stimulate and encourage the increase of Scientists and Engineers.

Handing over the goods to the school Principal, Armscor CEO - Kevin Wakeford - encouraged learners to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams. “I am pleased to announce that Armscor has awarded a bursary to one of the learners who matriculated from this school last year, to pursue Engineering studies at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. We would like to sustain our relationship with the school and we are going to do so on the basis of improved performance which we will assess year-on-year”, he further said, pledging Armscor’s commitment to continue its support.

The school principal, Mr Memani said they are grateful for the learning material Armscor donated. He further said “this will go a long way in stimulating interactive learning experience in the classrooms and ensuring that we produce results that our sponsors will be proud of”.
