APLNG still on track for mid-2015 production
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The $24.7-billion Australia Pacific liquefied natural gas (APLNG) project was on track to produce its first LNG by mid-2015, project developer Origin Energy’s LNG CEO, David Baldwin, said on Thursday.
Full production from both trains was expected by the end of 2016.
The project, being developed by Origin and its joint venture partners ConocoPhillips and Sinopec, was expected to have a capacity of nine-million tonnes a year.
Baldwin noted that the upstream component of the project was some 85% complete at the end of September.
The project developer has also drilled 166 development wells, bringing the total number of development wells drilled to 985 at the end of September. Some 70 wells a month were now being commissioned on an ongoing basis.
Meanwhile, Origin on Thursday reported that production for the three months to September had remained relatively unchanged compared with the previous quarter, with the miner producing 34.9 petajoules equivalent, and selling 37.5 petajoules equivalent to generate a revenue of A$251.1-million.
Sales revenue for the quarter declined by 11% on the figure achieved in the June quarter, reflecting the timing of product liftings, lower sales of third party volumes, and lower average commodity prices, Origin said.
