JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – AngloGold Ashanti expects to report a 242% to 262% year-on-year increase in headline earnings to $104-million to $118-million for the year ended December 31.

Headline earnings a share are expected to be 239% to 256% higher year-on-year.

AngloGold reported a headline loss and headline loss a share of $73-million and $0.18 respectively for 2015.

The higher earnings are the result of a higher gold price received; a continued focus on cost control across the company's 17 operations; and the positive effect of the translation of a deferred tax balance in South America of $99-million owing to a weaker local currency, besides others.

The company will publish its results on February 21.
