African Marine Solutions Group (Pty) Ltd [AMSOL], a market leader in marine solutions in Africa, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Ngakane to the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2023.

His appointment follows AMSOL’s deliberate succession planning processes and is the result of an extensive recruitment process involving candidates from a variety of industries in the region. Dan will replace outgoing CEO Paul Maclons who has been at the helm for 17 years.

An experienced business leader, Dan has an excellent track record spanning 20 years across the Energy, Transport and Mining sectors in South Africa in roles at Barloworld, Anglo Platinum and Eskom. His qualifications include Master’s Degrees in Engineering and in Business Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Laws.

AMSOL Chairperson Dr Iraj Abedian: “We are delighted to welcome Dan and believe that his ability to achieve growth and unlock value will support future continuity as well as AMSOL’s next phase of expansion in the region. He is a values-driven business leader who has a diverse background of experiences and an excellent track record of delivery. The Board looks forward to Dan realising the full potential of AMSOL as a leading business delivering long term growth and value for stakeholders. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Maclons for his leadership over the years which leaves AMSOL well positioned for success. Paul will continue to lead AMSOL until the end of June when he will take a Special Advisory role; continuing to serve on the Board of Directors.”

Dan Ngakane: “I am pleased to have been appointed to lead AMSOL. It is a business with a strong footprint in Africa, a strong brand, a talented team and a great reputation. I will be very focused on working with all stakeholders and AMSOL professionals at sea and ashore to ensure that we grow the business and continue to deliver marine solutions to the high international standards expected by clients in the region.”
