The Amdec Group  (0.18 MB)

Company Announcement  - The Amdec Group today announced that it will develop The Yacht Club, a unique R1,2 billion mixed-use landmark at the magnificent gateway to Cape Town’s Waterfront. This prestigious development will comprise residential, hotel, and office space, making it an ideal mixed-use facility for those wishing to live, work, and play within a safe and secure precinct.

Amdec Property Development, part of the Amdec Group, are the development managers of The Yacht Club. Nicholas Stopforth, Amdec Property Development’s Joint MD, says The Yacht Club’s outstanding location makes it the ideal site for a mixed-use development. Amdec is recognised as South Africa’s leading developer of New Urban lifestyles, with the iconic Melrose Arch mixed-use precinct part of its pioneering portfolio. Stopforth explains: “The Yacht Club is strategically positioned adjacent to the V&A Waterfront, a stone’s throw from the Cape Town International Convention Centre and on the doorstep of the city’s historic Foreshore. A variety of world-class tourist, business, retail, and recreation facilities are all well represented within the immediate vicinity”.

The Yacht Club is located within the Roggebaai Canal Tourism Precinct, named after the Roggebaai Canal which runs through it, connecting Cape Town’s financial hub, the vibrant CTICC, and the V&A Waterfront.

The Yacht Club’s striking nautically inspired design will reflect the heritage of this unique setting. On completion it will be the biggest development of its kind in the Roggebaai Precinct, joining the existing developments of Harbour Bridge Hotel & Suites and Canal Quays apartments. Set for completion mid-2017, The Yacht Club will include a podium of modern, flexible office space and two towers of urban hotel and apartment living. It also benefits from a secure, vibrant and connected precinct, generous parking, easy access, excellent design, quality finishes and animated public areas alongside the pedestrianised canal environment.

The Yacht Club’s contemporary, A-grade business space includes excellently situated offices that are flexible in design.  “The Yacht Club Office Suites are ideal for businesses with links to the node’s multitude of financial or maritime corporates, the travel and tourism industries, as well as retail, conferencing, entertainment and the arts,” says Stopforth. The Yacht Club will also offer sought-after urban apartment living ideal for young professionals, first-time buyers and investors, as well as corporate and long-stay accommodation. It will feature a range of beautiful apartments with one bedroom, two bedroom, and luxury corner apartments that take full advantage of the building’s spectacular views. Apartments will range from 54m2 to 95m2 with a starting price of R2.4 million.

Stopforth also confirms that the development has the potential to include a hotel and associated serviced apartments. Negotiations with a well-known international hotel group are advanced in this regard. Importantly, The Yacht Club is designed with convenience, efficiency and security in mind. It will benefit from security features such as CCTV cameras and onsite security personnel. Stopforth points out that the precinct is designed around public areas, with benches and pedestrian pathways. The Yacht Club will offer access control as well as other cutting-edge technologies that put it at the forefront of quality and modern design. These include energy-efficient features such as double-glazing and LED lighting, making it environmentally efficient.

More than that, it links effortlessly to the city and beyond. The Yacht Club boasts dedicated access at the junction of several transport systems. This makes it incredibly easy to get to - by car, bus, shuttle, taxi and by water taxi on the Roggebaai Canal waterway.  All it takes is a short walk to connect with a multitude of daily amenities: restaurants, shopping, banking, health clubs, entertainment and much more at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Foreshore and the CTICC node. It has easy and immediate connections to the city’s major arterial roads and direct highway links across the city and to Cape Town International Airport.

The R180 million Cape Town cruise-liner terminal is approved directly north of the Yacht Club, and it will be completed in 2017 - perfectly timed for the opening of The Yacht Club. The Yacht Club will offer investors a secure, quality lifestyle in an energised precinct amidst a working harbour with all the buzz of city living in a location steeped in history.
