BrauBeviale  (0.07 MB)

Altra Industrial Motion exhibited its myriad of solutions for processing in the beverage industry at BrauBeviale 2016, the world’s premier exhibition for the production of beverages. Altra brands present at the exhibition included Bauer Gear Motor, Huco Dynatork and Warner Electric – who each displayed a number of industry specialised products for increasing automated production efficiency.

BrauBeviale 2016 took place at the Exhibition Centre Nuremburg, gathering over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 35,000 visitors from the beverage. The exhibition serves the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, providing an unparalleled cross section of the businesses and solutions providers who shape the market.

Bauer Gear Motor
Bauer Gear Motor displayed its compact and flexible HiflexDRIVE range – a bevel geared motor designed for maximum service life, straight forward maintenance, ease of cleaning and high efficiency especially under partial load conditions – making it an ideal selection for conveying operations in the beverage industry.

Building on the inherent advantages of the standard HiflexDRIVE, Bauer offers aseptic and stainless steel variants of the drive for use in hygienically sensitive processing areas. Both are designed with ingress protection up to IP69K and a smooth outer casing to eliminate potential dirt traps, coupled with a high resistance to wash downs with high pressure or temperature water.

The Aseptic variant also features an acid and alkali resistant coating, further ensuring that disinfectants and cleaners do not affect motor performance. The stainless steel variant offers additional high mechanical resilience. Bauer offers the HiflexDRIVE in a range of torque ratings from the BK08 to BK17 models, allowing specifiers to select a solution that will provide optimum energy efficiency for their application demands. From standard, Bauer has designed the HiflexDRIVE to be flexible, allowing model evolutions on the platform to bring support for all facets of a beverage processing facility.

Huco Dynatork
Huco Dynatork has a great reputation for producing high quality power transmission components for automation purposes, and brought its wide ranging expertise to the exhibition. Focus particularly centred on the Huco Dynatork 3 air motor range, which offers efficient spark-free operation for processing applications up to ATEX Zone 1.

The Dynatork 3 air motor serves as a cost effective alternative to ATEX-rated electric motors – eliminating the need for costly enclosures and electrical wiring. Huco’s unique free floating piston technology minimises air leakage past the piston, resulting in an air consumption up to 80% less than an equivalent vane air motor, providing large energy savings even under heavy application.

An integral rotary valve that supplies air to each piston enables torque to be transferred from start-up. When torque sensors are fitted for closed loop feedback, high torque can be supplied at the lowest speeds for accurate position control without expensive electronic controls.

Due to the lack of internal components that can be damaged, the Dynatork 3 air motor can be stopped and started without risk of burnout, ideal for indexing and conveying operations in the beverage industry. The reduced size of the motor allows easy movement during installation and maintenance, while engaging and disengaging air lines is also straightforward. The motor is available in aluminium, stainless steel or acetal construction, with the acetal and stainless steel variants offering increased resistance to the caustic acids and chlorinated sterilisers that are frequently utilised in wash-downs.

Warner Electric
In 2005, Warner Electric released a design package for OEM replacement magnetic headsets for the beverage industry. Since then, Warner has continued to develop these existing models while adding additional products such as capping chucks and retention knives specifically for the sector.

BrauBeviale 2016 saw Warner display its varied and industry tested solutions, but the spotlight was firmly centred on its Capping Headsets. Unlike pulsating torque competitors, Warner Electric’s Smooth Torque Technology ensures constant torque levels, which eliminates the troubles of over tightened caps, while also protecting the system from shock to improve the service life of associated components.

Furthermore, Warner Electric demonstrated the latest aseptic headset for hygienically sensitive applications, by dunking the product into an aquarium filled with water and chemical liquids. This practical demonstration exhibited the resistance capabilities of the headset, which is designed to competently withstand even the most stringent wash downs. Demand for the aseptic headset in the beverage industry has increased year on year, due to highly reliable operation, its consistent performance and the products 100% interchangeability with OEM headsets.
