Project Description
Aqtobe Su-Energy Group has received a loan to finance the construction of a new WWTP with an average capacity of 100 000 m3/d and a maximum capacity of 130 000 000 m3/d. The project includes a sludge treatment facility with a biogas-fuelled heat and electricity generation unit.

The project is expected to contribute to the reduction of pollution in the Ilek river, which is part of the in the Ural-Caspian basin, and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by 23 000 t/y of carbon dioxide.

Included in the project is anaerobic digestor line capacity to treat 195 t/d of dewatered sludge (at 25% solids) through primary and secondary digestion resulting in the production of
22 000 m3/d of biogas.

A combined heat and power facility – to produce heat and electricity from biogas generated by the anaerobic digestor facility – with estimated thermal energy of 66 000 kWh/d and 50 140 kWh/d of electric energy, will also be built. The power generated by the facility will be used at the WWTP site.
