The Ekurhuleni metropolitan municipality has commissioned industrial and commercial equipment specialist Advanced Industrial Technology (Ai-Tec) to undertake a repair and maintenance pro- gramme at power substations and mini substations in the municipality’s areas of responsibility on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Ai-Tec director Arnold Retief says this highly specialised project entails the repair and upgrading of electrical structures. It also involves the installation of high-tension (HT) breakers, contacts and switch enclosures.

“A highlight of this project was that all reticulation work on HT cables was completed within 18 hours – an achievement that impressed the Ekurhuleni municipality.”

“The team was also responsible for extending, coupling and connecting all HT cables, as well as the repair and maintenance work on low-voltage cabling,” he adds.

The project is due for completion at the end of June.
