AECOM appoints Boni Chileshe as MD for East Africa

AECOM has appointed Boni Chileshe as Managing Director for East Africa. Chileshe has over 30 years’ experience within engineering and global professional services. Until recently he was the Market Sector Leader for EMIA in Transmission and Distribution.

Chileshe has worked for major multinationals in the US, UK, Europe and Africa, including Atlas Copco, Atkins, Airbus, Rolls Royce and Ove Aru p & Partners in very senior roles. He is a member of the Board and currently sits on the Power Board for AECOM in the UK. Chileshe’s experience covers various industry sectors, such as energy, aerospace, marine, oil and gas, automotive, mining and manufacturing.

His first job was as a young graduate at a Zambian copper mine. He is a part-time lecturer at the University of Birmingham in the Faculty of Engineering. Chileshe enjoys mentoring disadvantaged children in Birmingham, and works with a group known as 100 Black Men. Chileshe has an MBA from Birmingham and a Mechanical Engineering degree from London.  As part of the top leadership team in Atkins, he also obtained a qualification from the Ashridge Business School in Leadership Masterclass.

Chileshe likes to travel and sample exotic foods. To date he has partaken of crocodile, kangaroo, reindeer, frog’s legs and many more. He has two daughters and a son, and is a diehard supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
