Electronics company LG says its new technologically advanced TVs – the LG Pro Centric Smart TV and LG Commercial Lite TV – offer hotel guests a superior viewing experience while providing saving benefits for hotels.

“With more guests demanding an at-home viewing experience, the Pro Centric Smart TV offers the customisable tools, including HTML4, Java and Flash, to optimise TVs with Internet protocol-based programmes,” says LG commercial display representative Debojit Das.

He adds that the Pro Centric Smart TV enhances connectivity, while its Smart Share and wireless display features enable guests to plot and view content on their digital devices on their hotel TVs. The LG History Auto Delete function offers guests privacy as they have the ability to delete any data watched and stored on their TVs when they check out. This prevents the exposure of confidential information that guests had access to while staying at the hotel.

Meanwhile, the LG Commercial Lite TV offers a hotel mode, a welcome screen and USB cloning, which make this TV a preferred choice for most hotels, says Das, noting that the welcome screen also offers a one-channel mapping feature that enables users to edit and list the channels of their choice from any of the multiple broadcasting signals.

Misuse Prevention

“TV settings, such as channel selection, can be controlled in all the rooms using the Hotel Mode feature, which also includes energy-saving aspects. “This prevents misuse by customers and allows for volume limits to be set. Default settings can also be reset for any TV.

“The Web operating system for the Commercial Lite TV also allows for remote diagnosis and signal monitoring using an embedded Web server, which enables hotel or LG engineers to check TV or signal information with ease,” Das points out.

He mentions that the USB cloning feature – a fully automated process – enables users to copy the TV settings to all TVs in the rooms using a USB stick. Das also highlights that this saves time and circumvents having to set each TV individually.

“LG understands the importance of adding value to hotels. “The number one objective of any hotel manager is to ensure guests enjoy a quality visit, but it is also important to deliver those services as cost effectively as possible. “The LG Commercial Lite Hotel TV will make hotel guests feel at home in the room, while hotel managers can be assured of the trusted value offered by LG,” states Das.

Hotel Verde – Africa’s greenest hotel, in Cape Town, is the first hotel on the continent to use Pro Centric Smart TVs. Das notes that this TV is a property differen-tiator, which offers hoteliers constant interaction with guests and a superior in-room experience for guests.

LG Electronics aims to expand its customer base in Africa by manufacturing the TVs locally.

“In July, the Pro Centric Smart TVs and the LG Commercial Lite TVs will be manufactured locally by LG Electronics South Africa, in Germiston. “This is a clear indication of LG’s commitment to providing these products for more hotels in Southern Africa and promoting economic growth in South Africa,” he concludes.
