NOSA Global Holdings, “NOSA”, a global leader in the provision of health and safety services, recently announced the launch of two new training courses – Advanced SAMTRAC and SAMTRAC Construction. SAMTRAC was launched by NOSA in the 1960s and has become synonymous with the health and safety industry in a number of countries globally. Advanced SAMTRAC and SAMTRAC Construction are extensions of SAMTRAC, and provide the industry with a more practical component to the theory that students are exposed to in SAMTRAC.
According to Duncan Carlisle, Chief Executive Officer of NOSA, “Advanced SAMTRAC provides the student with the tools and skills to implement an integrated health, safety and environmental system in their workplace. SAMTRAC Construction provides the student with the same tools, but allows them to perform this task in a construction environment.”
Both training courses are offered as a blended approach where students are required to complete a theoretical pre-assessment prior to being accepted onto the five-day, classroom-based course where the practical components of the courses are covered. Carlisle further stated, “This approach is following some of the global business schools where theory is completed outside the classroom, and the practical components are done with the support of the facilitators and other students in the class.”
Students are required to submit a practical assignment on completion of both courses, which accounts for a large portion of their final results. According to Dr Deonie Botha, Head of Innovation at NOSA, “The industry has been demanding a training course that allows the student to add immediate value to a workplace, along with providing a career path for students that have completed SAMTRAC in the past.”
