The deal between the two companies is expected to increase the availability of Google Enterprise products on the African continent.
Google Enterprise head of sales Jesper Frederiksen says, “The technologies in the enterprise suite are extremely popular and demonstrate true Web innovation spilling over the firewall and into the enterprise. We are confident of Faritec’s ability to add significant value to our business.”
Faritec regional executive Gordon Love says that the company is continually searching for revenue streams that can offer more software and service-orientated, annuity-based income for the company.
Faritec offers software-as-a-service (SAAS) assistance through its security operations centre and has a customer base exceeding 1 200 organisations within South Africa. The company says that this will add considerably to the Google Enterprise footprint in the region.
“With over seven years of experience in complex solutions selling and two years of experience as an SAAS solutions provider, we are well positioned within the South African market and across the broader continent,” Love adds.
Three Google Enterprise solution offerings will be marketed by Faritec, including Google Enterprise Search, Google Apps Security & Compliance, and Google Geospatial.
Google Enterprise Search is aimed at providing secure and relevant access to information located within an organisation by leveraging and optimising Google’s core search technology through the Google Search Appliance and Google Mini. These provide a single view of data spanning the various public enterprise information stores, and avoid the need for traditional customer integration suites.
Complementing Faritec’s current managed security services, Google Apps Security & Compliance focuses predominantly on anti- spam, content filtering and secure messaging services provided as a hosted service. The company notes that this will reduce the need for escalated international bandwidth costs and associated costs for storage, archiving and support.
Google Geospatial offers a three-dimentional image of the earth that incorporates, arranges and distributes an enterprise’s location data. Google Geospatial places the power of Google Earth inside an organisation, allowing the mixture of enterprise data with Google Earth data.
Further, Faritec notes that this solution provides an understanding of physical and visual enterprise information assets and problem areas, which were traditionally seen as flat information files.
“By combining this information, organisations can realise large savings in time, money and resources. There is unlimited potential for the use of this solution in many varied fields, including government, utility companies, engineering, architecture, telecommunications and media,” Faritec says.
The first phase of the roll-out of the Google Enterprise solutions will focus on Google Enterprise Search with Faritec’s existing customers. The second phase will be aimed at Security & Compliance, with Google Geospatial following thereafter.
