The use of Inox, also called stainless high- grade steel, is increasing rapidly across the world in the metalworking, construction and construction-related industries.
Technology supplier Bosch offers the Best for Inox range of abrasives to enable efficient processing of this material with an angle grinder.
The range is divided into four types of discs, namely flap discs and fibre sanding discs, for a high material removal rate when coarse grinding and deburring are required, and fleece discs and surface conditioning material (SCM) fleece discs for cleaning work and high-quality finishing.
All the discs have a fairly long life span and a favourable price-performance ratio.
During sanding, highly active additives reduce temperature development and prevent oxidation on the surface of the workpiece. The discs have a diameter of 125 mm and a bore diameter of 22.23 mm.
The flap discs are made from high-performance zirconia-alumina, with a highly active additive coating in the second top size coat and special bonding agents. This technology ensures that the discs have a very long life span, an extremely high removal rate and little heat development during sanding. Hardly any discolouration occurs and flying sparks are significantly reduced. Bosch offers these discs with grits of 40, 60 and 80.
The fibre discs are also made from zirconia- alumina. This gives them their high material removal rate, which is up to four times higher than that of conventional aluminium oxide fibre discs. The special bonding agent used in these discs fixes the abrasive grit perfectly on the vulcanised fibre backing, thereby ensuring the long life span.
The fibre discs have the highest removal rate in their class. They also produce hardly any discolouration and limited flying sparks. The range comprises grits of 60, 80 and 120.
The coarse cleaning fleece discs are designed for quick and easy removal of blue discoloured welded points on stainless steel. These discs, which have an open structure and are adaptable to contours, do not clog, and they produce a cool cut. They also prevent smearing on the surface and enable much more economical working than conventional acid paste methods.
The SCM fleece discs are used to achieve a consistent finish on stainless steel workpieces. They offer a combination of high effi- ciency and long life, without damaging the workpiece. The discs remove surface damage and refine coarse grind lines. They are resistant to clogging and smearing and are available in the extra-coarse, coarse and medium grit categories.
