Company Announcement - The first European EnergyManager training in Sub-Saharan African has come to an successful end, with all participants receiving their official certification as European EnergyManagers.

From September 2014 to March 2015 the 1st EUREM participants from industrial companies have been trained in how to optimise the energy consumption in their companies and engage in a systematic, continuous energy improvement processes.
An essential part of the training was for each participant to develop an energy efficiency feasibility study for their company with support of the experienced trainer team. On average, each of the developed energy efficiency projects leads to a saving of 558 MWh and an energy cost reduction of about 480,000 ZAR annually in the participating companies.

“Taking part in the EUREM training provided us with the necessary skills to develop energy saving activities on our own, like the planned Heat Recovery measure with an annual energy cost saving potential of up to 230,000 Rand” (Jesko Serrer, Factory Manager, Falke Eurosocks)

The results of the 1st EUREM demonstrate that both participants as well as their companies benefit from EUREM. The potential cost saving of the energy efficiency projects developed during the course easily off-sets the training fee. “EUREM was like an eye-opener to us. Prior to the training we never really thought about energy efficiency and had only limited skills to do so. Now we are going to engage in energy management to continuously exploit our energy saving potentials” (Thysman Joubert, Process Engineer, AAT Composites)

EUREM is an extra-occupational training aiming to build the in-house skills of industries’ technical staff, like production managers and process engineers, as well as energy service providers to identify and realise energy efficiency opportunities in their respective companies. The EUREM is a standardised training approach according to European guidelines, offered around the globe with more than 3,500 EnergyManagers trained so far.

New EUREM South Africa courses are available in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, starting in May 2015.
