Kumba Iron Ore reported a 10% fall in first quarter sales due to port equipment challenges. The Anglo American company reduced production by 2% to 9.3-million tons in line with its strategy to match output to available logistics capacity. Ore taken to port by Transnet Freight Rail was flat at 9.4-million tons, but sales declined to 8.5-million tons because of problems at the Port of Saldanha. Photograph: Reuters
