Our client, a prominent IPP in Sub-Saharan Africa is looking for a seasoned Project Developer to assist in developing their expanding project portfolio. The ideal candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of the South African energy market, encompassing administrative systems and environmental law.

Working under the guidance of a Senior Project Developer, your primary role will involve acquiring all essential land rights, authorisations, permits, and licenses necessary for the development and operation of renewable energy projects. This position requires adept navigation of government-level bureaucratic processes.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in technology, science, engineering, business field, or town planning

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience as a Project Developer in the renewable energy industry in South Africa
• Embedded knowledge of South African administrations, environmental law, and BBB-EE Code
• Project Development experience in rural Southern African regions 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Project Developer, you will play a crucial role in identifying, originating, and managing renewable energy projects. Your responsibilities will include identifying potential project sites, conducting initial risk assessments, negotiating land leases, and obtaining permits and licenses from government departments. You will also manage project costs, engage with stakeholders, and implement risk mitigation strategies. Working closely with senior developers, you will contribute to due diligence processes, support renewable energy procurement programs, and assist in achieving financial close. Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, monitoring market developments, and identifying strategic opportunities and threats will also be important aspects of your role.
