Kathleen Valley nearing first production

Lithium developer Liontown is getting closer to first production – scheduled for mid-year – with the miner this week reaching the key milestone of crushing first ore at its flagship Kathleen Valley project, in Western Australia.

Commissioning of the dry plant started in late March, the ASX-listed company reports.

The team will gradually ramp up the volume of ore through the crusher to build a stockpile of crushed ore.

“By starting the commissioning process with the crusher, we’re not only testing the equipment but will have clean ore ready for feeding into the wet plant,” Liontown states.

Kathleen Valley will be ramped up to three-million tonnes a year in its base case scenario.
